Pulse Hospital recently witnessed a landmark medical recovery as a 25-year-old male patient successfully defeated severe leptospirosis complicated by Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and multi-organ involvement. Arriving at our facility in a critical, unconscious, and intubated state from Bharti Hospital, initial investigations confirmed a positive Leptospira IgM status alongside severely deranged liver function tests.
The road to recovery was exceptionally challenging, with the patient remaining non-responsive on continuous ventilatory support for nearly 15 days. During this intensive hospital course, our team promptly managed secondary complications, including an Acinetobacter baumannii infection, through targeted antibiotic therapy and aggressive critical care. Through precise clinical decisions—including a complex course of extubation and re-intubation—the patient’s vital parameters and neuromuscular power gradually stabilized.
